SPACE MOVES! New ideas for the next space generation
The INNOspace Masters ideas competition was officially launched during the IAP Workshop “Space Moves!” in Berlin on 19 September. Innovative ideas and solutions can be submitted for the next space generation from 20 November 2017 until 16 February 2018.
With the INNOspace Masters 2018 competition, the organiser intends to gather ideas / solutions for the next generation of spaceflights. By awarding prizes and promoting individual ideas, the organiser aims at the optimisation of processes, components and subsystems along the value chain with a focus on the following topics: 
  • Materials, Components and Production 
  • Sensor Technology & Miniaturisation 
  • Communication & Network 
  • Propulsion Technology, E-Mobility & Energy Storage 
  • Simulation & Testing 
The competition is separated into four challenges in accordance with the partners. 
Enterprises, universities, non-university scientific institutions, start-up-teams and consortia registered in an EU member state, and individuals of legal adult age and being EU citizens are entitled to participate in the INNOspace Masters 2018. 
The INNOspace Masters competition is being organised by the Space Administration of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) as an embedded component of the INNOspace® initiative. AZO Anwendungszentrum GmbH Oberpfaffenhofen, an international networking company for space-related innovation competitions, has been implementing the competition since 2015 on behalf of DLR. Partners of the competition are Airbus, OHB SE, and the two German ESA Business Incubation Centres (ESA BIC Darmstadt and ESA BIC Bavaria).
The competition has four challenges offered by the partners. For each one the winner and the runner-up will be awarded, as well as the overall winner will be awarded the grand prize INNOspace Masters 2018. The challenges are:
  • DLR Challenge
  • ESA B IC Start-up challenge
  • Airbus Challenge 
  • OHB Challenge
