Why ESA BIC Hessen & Baden-Württemberg

The ESA Business Incubation Centre (ESA BIC) Hessen & Baden-Württemberg was founded initially in Hessen as ESA BIC Darmstadt in 2007 and is managed by Centrum für Satellitennavigation Hessen (cesah).

In 2018 the centre was enlarged to include two new incubation locations in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, in Reutlingen and in Friedrichshafen area.

The centre offers business start-up support as well as technical expertise in different space related areas, and in particular in satellite navigation, data systems, software systems and navigation test environments.

It runs the International GNSS service (IGS), as well as a worldwide network of satellite ground stations and databases. The key factor to success is the provision of technical support to the start-ups through a network of ESA experts and the cesah shareholders in close collaboration with regional and international partners.

In 2018 the centre was enlarged to include two new incubation locations in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, in Reutlingen and in Friedrichshafen area, managed by IHK Reutlingen and AIRBUS DS. We support innovative startup companies in technical realisation and market implementation of new products and services applying space technologies.
