The challenge

Airgloss has developed and patented a state of the art sensory system
based on artificial intelligence, a “miniaturized electronic nose” intended to identify with high precision and reliability numerous pollutants potentially dangerous for human health. The company proposes to market two different solutions intented for different markets and applications. Airgloss ProSense, designed for industrial applications, can be interfaced with the most common HVAC systems. Airgloss ComfortKit is specifically designed for home as, in addition to air quality monitoring, it has all the functionalities of a smart thermostat, providing also heating and cooling control. Both solutions are provided with an advanced cross-platform software that allows a complete system managment, even by remote. The core thecnology is also available in a OEM version, that can be integrated in tird party products such as cocking hoods, air purifiers and other systems for industrial automation.

The solution

A leap from aerospace equipment to an advanced yet affordable consumer solution, achieved by developing a new generation of proprietary sensors, based on advanced MEMS technology. The artificial intelligence engine behind the new Airgloss Core recognizes the unique pattern characterizing each chemical compound, allowing an accurate detection of a broad range of polluting substances.Each airborne pollutant can be identified by its unique ‘chemical signature’.An array of sensing elements translates the collected data and an artificial intelligence algorithm then draws a comparison with known patterns present on the database. With this procedure, the embedded artificial intelligence engine can recognize a pattern that distinguishes a substance, enabling a realtime detection of a specific airborne chemical compound. Space Connection - electronic noses that were used for indoor air quality monitoring inside the ISS during the Space Shuttle Mision STS-134.
