About BIC Lazio

BIC Lazio is located in one of the most economically dynamic areas in Italy, which is also the region of Rome: Lazio. Founded in 1990 by Regione Lazio (the local government authority), it is a joint stock (PLC) corporation owned through a majority stake by the regional development company. Its mission is to promote and encourage the creation of innovative new enterprises resulting from new business ideas (startups) or research projects (spin-offs), aiming to generate an improved entrepreneurial mind-set and provide further work opportunities.

BIC Lazio has a network of 9 “Spazi Attivi”, each one principally dedicated to its territories’ specialisations, including aerospace, cultural and creative industries, energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, agri-food, mechanics, life sciences and blue economy. 7 of these “Spazi Attivi” are Incubators, collaborative spaces where citizens, innovative startups, enterprises and local authorities, participate in the growth of the territory.

BIC Lazio’s Incubator in Rome Tecnopolo is linked to the ESA BIC initiative through the Technology Transfer Programme of European Space Agency (ESA). This programme is supported by ESA, the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and Regione Lazio. ESA BICs assist new entrepreneurs across ESA Member States in creating successful innovative business, developing products and services based on the downstream markets of the space systems applications and in the exploitation of space technologies in non-space sectors.

Examples of application sectors are: IT, microelectronics, environment, energy, ITS&mobility, telecommunications, security
