New generation Pulse Wave sensor for the monitoring of the cardiovascular system in a state of weightlessness

Technology abstract

In collaboration with ESIEE Paris and the laboratory ESYCOM, a French SME has developed an innovative pulse wave sensor in order to monitor the cardiovascular system in a state of weightlessness. The pulse wave, often taken at the carotid level, allows, if analyzed, information gathering over key indicators linked to diastolic and systolic pressures. The pulse wave speed measured in 2 points (mainly carotido-femoral) allows an accurate evaluation of arterial compliance.

The pulse wave, often taken on carotid level, allows, if analyzed, information gathering over key indicators linked to diastolic and systolic pressures. The pulse wave speed measured in 2 points (mainly carotido-femoral) allows an accurate evaluation of arterial compliance.
Hence, studies and characterizations of these constants give the possibility to make a patient’s cardiovascular assessment and, via correlations, to anticipate and diagnostic some pathologies, follow an illness or the effectiveness of a treatment.
In collaboration with the engineering school ESIEE Paris and the laboratory ESYCOM, the French SME has developed an innovative pulse wave sensor in order to monitor the cardiovascular system in a state of weightlessness.

Innovations & Advantages

The innovation consists in a continuous measurement and analysis of the pulse wave thanks to a non invasive sensor integrated in  an elastic polymer stuck to the patient’s skin.

  • Embedded characterization of pulse wave and its indicators (ex : arterial compliance)
  • Wire or Bluetooth connection to the mobile application or to the dedicated platform in order to limit tiredness and discomfort caused by wearing the product.
  • Received signals filtering allows the visualization of standardized curves.
