Standard accuracy pressure transducer for harsh environments
This pressure transducer can operate in harsh environments (oil drilling, mining & generally corrosive applications) where titanium is a solution, for measuring static & dynamic pressures up to a certain bandwidth. This sensor has inherited all its strengths from its space origins. It has been designed & developed by a Greek SME specialized in the design & fabrication of capacitive MEMS sensors for pressure, acceleration & signal conditioning ASICs.
This pressure transducer is based on silicon capacitive MEMS technology to fit harsh environments applications. The sensor has been designed to withstand not only corrosive media but also extreme mechanical fatigue environments in terms of vibrations and shocks in an all welded titanium housing. It can provide a 0.1%FS accuracy for pressures up to 350 bar in a temperature range of -20oC to +80oC with great proof pressure level (x3) and burst pressure (x4).
Innovations & Advantages
The development of the pressure transducers made entirely out of Titanium is the only solution for applications with extremely harsh environments and/or heavily corrosive media. In these applications the stainless steel pressure transducers that are dominating the market cannot be used and only titanium products will not corrode. Such applications are typically the industrial ones, including oil and gas exploration, maritime, process automation but there are also medical applications since titanium is also biologically and chemically neutral.
All these applications can be served with a single product where it is already compatible in terms of interfacing with current industrial installations. It can be used by personnel without special training as the design is bullet proof and offers a set of safeguards making it extremely difficult to destroy.
